About Owner Jennifer Torney
A need for advanced home care for pets was recognized by Jennifer Torney, owner of Advanced Pet Care Service, as a pet owner and veterinary professional. Her beloved black labrador retriever developed an inoperable spinal disease that left her partially paralyzed. Jennifer learned how to carefully tend to her dog's special needs given her training as a veterinary nurse and advice from her veterinary colleagues, providing nursing care at home and a canine wheelchair that allowed her dog to walk again. As a veterinary technician in a speciality practice, Jennifer has assisted many clients with pets that have medical conditions that required special treatment such as diabetes, epilepsy, and mobility problems. These clients felt uncomfortable leaving their pets in a kennel or at the hospital when they had to be away from home. Jennifer offered to care for them while they were away, which relieved the owners and gave Jennifer the idea for specialized pet sitting. She has over 10 years of experience assisting in veterinary surgery, emergency and critical care, anesthesia, and MRI/CT scan experience. Jennifer lives in LaPlata with her fiance, 5 cats, and 1 rabbit. Jennifer holds a Master's degree in Management and Public Relations from the University of Maryland.
